As a small charity, we are doing our part to support moms and their babies across Nunavut. We know our baby care boxes make a difference in the lives of the families that receive them. But we need your help.

In May 2024 the Youth Team won an Arctic Inspiration Youth Prize for “Investing in the Futures of Inuit Women”, a twofold project that aims to grow employment skills and confidence in Inuit women to pursue job opportunities and economic independence. Since then they have been hard at work realizing their vision.

One Plane Away is pleased to have been selected by the Government of Nunavut, Department of Health, to coordinate the Bassinet Program for the Kivalliq region. As an organization that has been in operation in Nunavut since 2015 with a mandate to support Inuit moms and their babies, we are excited to be part of this important work. Our goal in this initiative is to ensure that every newborn in the Kivallliq Region has access to a bassinet to help protect their overall well-being and safety.

At the Annual General Meeting held in September, One Plane Away elected a new Board of Directors from across Canada who are committed to ensuring Nunavut babies and their mothers will have access to an adequate supply of clothes and basic items. Our Board Members are also passionate about providing access to skill-building training to increase employment opportunities for Inuit women.

Board members will be busy in the coming months focusing on several new initiatives, including website translation, purchasing books in Inuktitut, improving support for the Iqaluit operations, working in partnership with the Arctic Inspiration Youth Prize Team, and launching the Bassinet Program.
